Pupil Premium Funding
PE & Sports Premium Funding
In April 2013, the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport announced new funding of £150 million to support the delivery of PE and school sport. Every state-funded school in the country with primary-aged pupils has received additional funding towards sport and physical education.
Every school has received £8,000 and £5 for every pupil that attends their school each year.
Schools are in the best position to decide on how this funding should be spent to meet the needs of their pupils.
The areas that will benefit from improvement might typically include:
Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE;
Supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional sport clubs;
Paying for professional development opportunities in PE/sport (including providing cover to release teachers);
Running or attending sports competitions
Sport and PE has always been given a high priority at St Bede’s and this funding has supported the school’s aim to continue to raise the profile of sport and encourage activity for all children.
